WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
Belfast Activity Centre experts will be guiding us on our hike.
Our hiking route will see you walk 10km (about 6.21mi) and climb 840 meters (about 2755.91ft) over approximately a 5-hour period. The route is on mostly rocky mountain trails up Slieve Donard with some forest sections through Donard Park and some steep ground as we make our final summit push.
Participants should be able to walk a route of at least 10km with 840m of height gain with some energy in reserve. The best way to prepare for hiking is in fact hiking, but we are aware this may not be an option for everyone, if you are using treadmills or other gym equipment be sure to add some incline to everything you may use to train.
We will start and finish at the Donard Car Park in Newcastle. Registration will be from 9am with the walk starting promptly at 10am.
Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian age 18+. Minimum age 14 years if with a family group.
Dogs unfortunately are not allowed to join; it is for the participants' safety and those of other walkers!
